Sarah Sjöström and Anton Chupkov are leading the way in the 2018 FINA Swimming World Cup after the second leg of the series in Doha at the weekend.

Just like last weekend in Kazan, Sjöström won five golds in 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle as well as the 50m and 100m butterfly.

These 10 victories have helped the Swedish swimmer amass 120 points to win $50,000 in prize money for being the top female swimmer after the first cluster of 50m races.

Russian Chupkov pocketed the same prize money for leading the men's series after Doha. He produced the meet's best male performance to win the 200m breaststroke in 2:08.77.

Last week's men's leader Vladimir Morozov drops to third in the standings despite winning the 50m free. he was also overtaken by the USA's Michael Andrew, who picked up golds in the 50m back and 100m fly.

Defending champion Sjöström has a healthy lead in the women's standings, and she set a further two World Cup butterfly records in the 50m (25.22) and 100m (56.46).

However, impressive Doha displays from Katinka Hosszu and Yuliya Efimova will show Sjöström that she's not going to have it all her own way.

Hosszu won an incredible 12 medals in Doha, including seven golds in the 400m and 800m freestyle, 100m and 200m backstroke, 200m butterfly, and 200m and 400m IM.

A series winner from 2012 to 2016, Hungarian Hosszu is second in the standings ahead of Russia's Efimova, who dominated the breaststroke events by taking gold over 50m, 100m and 200m.

Dutch swimmer Kira Toussaint was the only woman not among the top three to take a race win as she triumphed in the 50m backstroke.

In the men's races, the USA's Blake Pieroni set a new World Cup record of 48.11 to win the 100m free. He made it a clean sweep of the freestyle with victories over 200m and 400m too. Australia's Mitch Larkin also won three golds in the 100m and 200m backstroke, plus the 200m IM.

Brazil's Felipe Lima won the 50m and 100m breaststroke races, while Andrii Govorov set a new World Cup record of 22.82 in the 50m butterfly. Defending men's champion Chad le Clos was suffering from fever and lost ground on the leading trio.
