Exeter Swimming Club Enjoy Success at County Championships

Devon County Championships 2016Exeter Swimming Club brought back an impressive haul of medals from the first round of the Devon County Championships recently. The first round took place on the weekend of the 16th/17th of January and the competition continues this coming weekend (30th/31st).

The Plymouth Life Centre played host to the age group championships, where swimmers from clubs all over the region come together to test their racing skills in a competitive environment.

The Exeter swimming club captain Dominic Woodridge led the way, winning the championship final and picking up trophies for the 400m Freestyle and 200m Butterfly events. A number of members of the swimming club had great success in their chosen events, with many bringing home trophies and reaching the championship finals.

Championship finals usually consist of the fastest 8 swimmers from across all of the competing age groups. So for the 50m Breaststroke championship final, the fastest 50m Breaststroke times from all of the age groups would compete against each other. This makes for an interesting event where you can find swimmers of a range of ages in the same event. This can give even the youngest of swimmers the chance to show their talents, plus the results of their hard work and training throughout the year.

County Age Group Championships are happening every weekend all over the country from now until the beginning of March. Do you have a story from County Champs that you'd like to share? Get in touch with us at blog@ proswimwear.co.uk today. We'd love to hear from you.
