World Champion Ben Proud disqualified in 50m butterfly

Imagine setting a commonwealth games record in the 50m butterfly and then being disqualified!? English commonwealth and world champion Ben Proud unfortunately know's the feeling all too well.

ben proud

This morning Proud was controversially disqualified after being perceived to have moved on his blocks at the start of the
race after winning his 50m butterfly heat in what would have been a Commonwealth Games record time of 22:84 seconds!

Proud made an appeal against the decision of the disqualification but it was upheld, "Unfortunately before the start si

gnal I was judged to have moved my leg and the referee deemed this enough for a disqualification," he said.

Proud was later seen at poolside supporting his team mates. Well done Ben from the ProSwimwear Team!
