Cambridgeshire County Championships Gets Off to a Flying Start.

Swimming Gala

The first weekend of the 2016 Cambridgeshire County Swimming Championships was hosted by City of Cambridge Swimming Club last weekend. Clubs from across the region came together for some healthy competition and to show off their swimming prowess. The venue, Parkside Pools, was filled with excitement as as children and teenagers took to the water and the events began.

The county age group championships are a time for young swimmers to get a taste for competition and a chance to develop a love for competitive swimming that could drive them to become one of our next top national swimmers. This is the proving ground for all young aquatics hopefuls, a few years of hard work could be the only thing between them and the next Olympic games!

The hosts (City of Cambridge SC) hauled in a whopping 25 gold medals, 16 silvers and 24 bronze!

Head coach J. Richards said: "This has been a cracking start to the county championships for our club, and reflects the hard work and dedication that the swimmers and coaching team have put in to get here."

The next round of the championships is due to start on January 30th and the final day of events will be on February 7th.

Good luck to everyone taking part.
