2018 FINA World Cup: Vladimir Morozov and Sarah Sjöström win titles
- 20 Nov 2018
Vladimir Morozov and Sarah Sjöström have been crowned winners of the 2018 FINA Swimming World Cup following the final leg of the series in Singapore at the weekend.
Russian Morozov has been dominant throughout the series, finishing in typically strong style with another four gold medals in the 50m and 100m freestyle, the 50m butterfly and the 100m IM.
Sjöström's victory in the women's series was far closer, with Katinka Hosszu chasing the defending champion all the way.
Hosszu claimed three golds in Singapore in the 200m IM, 400m IM and 200m butterfly, which earned her the Cluster #3 overall win.
But Swede Sjöström fired back with wins in the 50m free, 100m free, 50m fly and 100m IM to claim the overall crown.
Immediately after the conclusion of the series, the dates were announced for the 2019 FINA Swimming World Cup.
It will start in August with three meetings making up the first cluster in Asia, before heading to Europe in September and October and culminating at Kazan and Doha.
